Wild sea trout leap into the museum from the Baltic Sea Each year
in November - December sea trout leap from the Baltic outside the museum
up the fish ladder to spawn indoors. After a couple of weeks the majority
leave the museum again via the fish ladder, swimming out into the Baltic
to feed before returning the year after. Robban holds an 11.2 kg sea trout, December 2001. The staff fertilises roe from a couple of inviduals so that visitors are able to follow the life-stages as the fry develop. The offspring are released after their third year, when they are 12 -15 cm. |
